Going into the winter semester, the brothers knew
that the quality choices remaining from the freshmen class were few and far
between, thus the brothers had no pledges for the winter term. Despite this set
back in numbers, the brothers instead chose to focus on improving the chapter in
all areas from within. The challenges of brotherhood and fraternal spirit were
tested and showed the resolve of the chapter to survive through any obstacle.
Going into Greek Week with this strengthened attitude, the brothers showed the
campus why we are number one by winning over Sigma Pi and Phi Kappa Theta.
Dominating wins throughout the week meant that the brothers could enter Airband
with comfort as they performed a classic rendition of Robin Hood. Red Rose
Formal was held at Sinbad’s on March 28th.
During the 97th National Convention, Alpha
Gamma received the George E. Shaw Award (Public Relations) – 2nd
Place.
The fall semester saw a renewed interest in Greek Life from UDM’s incoming freshmen, and Kappa Delta Rho was excited to welcome 9 new brothers. A philanthropy Car Smash event was also hosted by the Alpha Gamma Chapter on campus for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The event served as a way for the brothers to raise money for a great cause while promoting public relations across campus before the start of Rush. The brothers’ commitment to service and education continued; and the Elders Committee responded to this commitment by raising the required service hours and G.P.A. requirements for the brotherhood.
